拉斐爾前派代表畫家：亞瑟?休斯（Arthur Hughes　1832-1915)

    亞瑟?休斯是一位拉斐爾前派的美術家。
    有人曾這樣評價他的畫："the knife-edge between sentiment and sentimentality" 但因為明亮的用色和細致的細節，休斯的作品并不顯得感傷。 他也是一個十分活躍的插畫家。

Ophelia 　　　奧菲利婭

畫框上有這樣的題詩：
'There is a willow grows aslant the brook,
That shows his hoar leaves in the glassy stream;
There with fantastic garlands did she come.
Of crow-flowers, nettles, daisies, and long purples.
There on the pendant boughs her coronet weeds
Clambering to hang an envious sliver broke.
When down the weedy trophies and herself
Fell in the weeping brook.'

April Love 　　　四月之戀

1856年此畫展出時附有丁尼生（Tennyson）的磨坊主的女兒（The Miller's Daughter）中的詩句作為注釋：

'Love is hurt with jar and fret.

Idle habit links us yet.
What is love? for we forget:
Ah, no! no!'

休斯描述奧菲利婭臨死前，她正接近湖面，回眸張望，唱著她的最后一支歌：
'Ophelia (sings)

All flaxen was his poll:
He is gone, he is gone,
And we cast away moan;
Gramercy on his soul!
And of all Christian souls, I pray God -

Sir Galahad 　　加拉哈德

加拉哈德騎士是亞瑟王傳奇中的人物，他被稱為圣潔騎士，畫面描寫他尋找圣杯之旅，配有以下的詩：

'The clouds are broken in the sky,
And thro' the mountain-walls,
A rolling organ-harmony
Swells up, and shakes and falls,
Then move the trees, the copses nod,
Wings flutter, voices hover clear:
Oh just and faithful knight of God!
Ride on: the prize is near.
